Our team is committed to providing an outstanding experience for our patients
Gabrielle established Cotswold Chiropractic in 1993. She studied chiropractic, followed by a degree in physiology at the University of Oxford and has a doctorate in the neurophysiology of neck pain. She became Director of Research and a trustee of the Royal College of Chiropractors in 2010 and in 2013 was appointed by the Privy Council to the General Chiropractic Council (the UK regulator for chiropractors). She now chairs the Test of Competence panel that assesses chiropractors with overseas qualifications who want to register to practice in the UK.
Gabrielle’s research interests include neck pain, eye and head movement control and the safety of spinal manual treatments. Her work has been published internationally in biomedical journals. Current projects include research to characterise how UK chiropractors provide care for different conditions and she is also working with a team of Canadian researchers on a further safety study.
Gabrielle has a long involvement in chiropractic education. Previous roles include lecturing in neuroscience and clinical neurology and the position of Clinical Director a chiropractic college. She sat on the Education committee of the General Chiropractic Council for 8 years, is an Education Visitor for the General Chiropractic Council, and works as an education and standards consultant. She recently authored new education standards that chiropractic degree programmes must adhere to in the UK, as well as the General Chiropractic Council's Code of Professional Practice that all chiropractors must follow, published on 31/12/24.
Working with other medical professionals and using research evidence to advance clinical practice is very important to Gabrielle. She was a member of the development group for the NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guideline on Osteoarthritis, providing expert manual therapy input, and was a member of the team that developed the Royal College of Chiropractors Quality Standard on Headache. Her patients can expect to receive care based on the most up to date evidence and guidelines.
Gabrielle enjoys looking after her patients, treating musculoskeletal pain conditions and headaches. She brings her knowledge of research, passion for ensuring that every patient receives the best care possible and understanding of exemplary, modern healthcare practices to the clinic.
Affiliations: Gabrielle is a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors, an Honorary Member of the British Chiropractic Association, a Member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Medicine
Kate has a long nursing career and it was while working as a practice nurse, and seeing volumes of people with impacted earwax, that she witnessed the impact of hearing loss, with all the effects this brings - from frustration and embarrassment to social isolation, if hearing was not restored.
Due to increasing pressures on NHS appointments many GP surgeries have stopped this procedure. So Kate is now providing this service in private practice, working for Andrew Bird Hearing. She travels to different clinics in the area, to serve the local community.
Kate is fully trained in treating adults for ear wax removal using both – micro-suction and water irrigation. Her level of experience means that she is adept at managing complex cases.
As the result of a desire to change careers along with a keen interest in health and fitness I embarked on studying Sports and Deep Tissue Massage. Once I had gained my qualification in 2009, I worked with the renowned Rosslyn Park Rugby club in Barnes and at multiple health clinics throughout London.
I moved to Cheltenham in 2015 where I joined The Nuffield Hospital. Here I worked closely with Dr Jaques, a doctor who has been involved with Sports Medicine for the past 30 years. Dr Jaques is the Director of Medical Services at the English Institute of Sport (EIS), which provides medicine and sports science services to summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic athletes. He and his Physiotherapy team regularly referred patients to me for muscle tissue work.
