What is a sports massage?

Sports Massage was developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for physical performance to perform well during training and to recover after a sporting event. The main goal of treatment is prevention and to heal injuries of the muscles and tendons. Increased build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may result in stress on joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. Muscular imbalances may increase with time and if not diagnosed early could possibly be serious enough to cause great discomfort and reduced performance. Sports massage is very beneficial for anyone with injuries, chronic pain or a restricted range of movement.

Sports Massage applied correctly can be the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance. Received regularly it may help prevent injuries that might be caused by regular overuse. Through some strokes and different techniques we can increase the blood supply to muscles enabling more oxygen, and vital nutrients to reach the cells. This can improve cellular growth, repair and nutrition and can help eliminate more rapidly and efficiently any toxins, debris or unwanted fluids.
